60 Year Pillars or 12 Signs: Why the Free Report Goes Finer
Most zodiac forecasts online end with 12 outcomes, because they only separate by sign. Our free report takes one more step: it converts your birth year into a sixty year cycle (ganzhi) pillar before giving the result. Two Rats can get very different conclusions.
Why 12 signs are not enough
The sign comes from the earthly branch, which has only twelve. But each year also carries a heavenly stem, and the stem’s element is fixed: Jia Yi Wood, Bing Ding Fire, Wu Ji Earth, Geng Xin Metal, Ren Gui Water.
So two Rat years with different stems have different elements:
- 1972: Ren Zi, Ren is Water, so Water Rat
- 1996: Bing Zi, Bing is Fire, so Fire Rat
Saying only “born in the Year of the Rat” misses that layer. The report keeps the stem too, turning 12 outcomes into 60.

Note 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020 are all Rat years, but the elements are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal. The report names exactly which one you are, instead of a vague “Rat”.
How fine does it go
The year pillar is the first of the four Ba Zi pillars, covering the birth year level traits. The report gives the pillar, element, birth year sign and Tai Sui clash checks, three harmonies relation, and today’s fortune. It does not replace the full four pillars, which also need month, day, hour, and place.

Is the birth year enough
For the year level, yes. Both the sign and the year pillar come from the birth year. The full Ba Zi needs more birth details.
Is the report free

Born in January or February
The sign follows the lunar new year. If your birthday is in late January or early February, check that year’s lunar new year date first. The birth year lookup handles this.
